Lakers’ Spicer named SIJHL’s most improved player

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – For his efforts during the course of the 2012-13 regular season, the Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that, Colton Spicer of the Fort Frances Lakers has been named the SIJHL’s most improved player award recipient.

The 18-year-old Fort Frances native earned the honour over fellow nominees Chris Sitko of the Dryden Ice Dogs and Conrad Sampair of the Minnesota Wilderness in voting done by each of the SIJHL’s member clubs.

In regular season competition Spicer registered 56 points on 34 goals and 22 assists, which marked a 36-point improvement from a year ago.

His 2012-13 regular season totals had him second on the Lakers in offensive production as well as tied for seventh overall in the league.

Spicer also raised his goal total by 22 on the campaign as well.

Furthermore he finished knotted for sixth in the SIJHL in power play tallies with seven and shared fourth in game-winning markers with four.
