Lakers’ Park named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers goaltender Nathan Park has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Feb. 15.
In two starts last week Park, who turns 20 Wednesday, won both of them allowing only one goal against in each contest backstopping the league-leading Lakers to victories over Dryden and Minnesota.
Since joining Fort Frances in mid-December, the Edmonton, Alta., product has gone 9-1 in 11 appearances.
Park currently tops all SIJHL netminders in both goals-against average and save percentage at 1.43 and .943 respectively.
His two shutouts also share the league lead.
Also receiving consideration for the SIJHL Amyotte’s player of the week was: Greg Harney, (G) English River Miners; Matt O’Dea, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Jonathon Philley, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs & Ryan Walsh (D), Thunder Bay North Stars.
