Lakers’ Cota named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Wyatt Cota has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Jan. 19.
In two contests during the week that was the 20-year-old native of Kingston, Ont., racked up six points helping the league-leading Lakers extend their current winning streak to 10.
Cota began by tallying twice, including the game-winner in overtime, and adding an assist as Fort Frances edged English River 6-5 Tuesday evening.
Three nights later he added another marker while setting two others as the Lakers blasted second place Thunder Bay 9-0 at Ice for Kids Arena.
On the season Cota sits second in team scoring with 43 points, including 18 goals, while sitting eighth overall in SIJHL offensive production.
Also receiving consideration for the SIJHL Amyotte’s player of the week was: Noah Anderson (D) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Tate Sproxton, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Bradley Belisle, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars and Taylor Bargar, (F) English River Miners.
