Iron Rangers’ Anderson named SIJHL’s Gongshow Gear best defenceman

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Noah Anderson of the Minnesota Iron Rangers has been named the Gongshow Gear best defenceman award recipient for the 2014-15 season.

In earning the accolades, Anderson topped fellow nominees Tim Cavar of the Thunder Bay North Stars and and Troy Williams for the award in voting done by each of the SIJHL member clubs.

The veteran reaguard in his final season of Jr. A hockey led all SIJHL defencemen in scoring in 2014-15 averaging just under a point-per-game with 54 in 55 outings on 17 goals and 37 assists.

The Groveland, N.Y., product also paced all league blueliners in tallies and helpers.

Anderson was earlier named a CCM first team all-star for his efforts on the ice for Minnesota.

This marks the second straight season a player from the Iron Rangers has captured Gongshow Gear best defenceman laurels, following Austin Frank’s win in 2013-14.

Frank will be recognized for his efforts with a gift package courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner and sponsor of the league’s best defenceman award.
