HNO’s Hosanna named recipient of the CCM – Gary Cook Memorial Award

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League has announced that Hockey Northwestern Ontario general manager Trevor Hosanna was named the 2012-13 recipient of the CCM – Gary Cook Memorial Award, which is awarded each year to the league’s executive of the year.

Hosanna was instrumental during the course of the 2012-13 season in aiding and assisting the SIJHL member clubs and their respective coaching and management staffs in many areas, including their efforts in registering players and training in the use of the Hockey Canada online player registration program.

“With teams on both sides of the border and dealing with Hockey Canada and USA Hockey for our U.S.-based teams, Trevor did an outstanding job working alongside our league this season making sure all the teams and staffs, especially those who were new to the SIJHL, were properly trained and made sure all the players were properly registered throughout the year,” said SIJHL president/commissioner Ron Whitehead.

“Gary Cook was second to none in all things hockey, including completing all the required paper work in player signings with HNO and Hockey Canada, and it was this same kind of diligence that made Trevor such a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious honour,” added Whitehead.

“The SIJHL thanks Trevor for his dedicated commitment and patience and we look forward to working with him and the staff at HNO in the years to come.”

The CCM – Gary Cook Memorial Executive of the Year Award is presented each season by the SIJHL in honour of the late hockey icon who was recognized for over five decades of hockey-related service to the community of Thunder Bay.

An honoured member of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, Mr. Cook was the ultimate hockey executive who
