Hiltermann’s Hat Trick Give Miners Overtime Win

Blake Hiltermann’s third goal of the night at 2:57 of overtime sealed the win for the Red Lake Miners on Evolution Community Night at the Cochenour Arena.

Red Lake opened the scoring early in the first period.  With Alex Remenda in the box for a double spearing minor Hiltermann ripped a shot past Ben Laurette for a 1-0 lead at 8:48. Aiden Corbett scored his 26th at 9:19  for the Miners second power play goal and a 2-0 lead.  With the Miners on the power play Easton Mikus broke free for a short handed break away and beat Ethan Neitsch with 10 seconds left on the clock.  Red Lake took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission .

Thunder Bay would open up second period scoring at 5:37 courtesy of E J Paddington’s 24th of the year.  Easton Mikus would score his 27th of the season on the power play at 7:29 to give the North Stars a 3-2 lead which they would take into the second intermission.

A relatively quiet third period changed late in the third when  Hiltermann scored his 13th of season on the power play to tie the game up at 16:09. nothing would change and the game was sent to overtime where Hiltermann’s 14th ended the game.
