GM Ice Dogs’ Williams named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions rookie of the month
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs defenceman Troy Williams has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. rookie of the month for October.
The award also factors in the player totals for the final two weeks of September, which coincided with the start of the 2014-15 regular season.
In 15 games during the time frame the 16-year-old Dryden product averaged nearly a point-per-game for the GM Ice Dogs scoring three times while doling out 10 assists.
Williams currently holds the league-lead in points among rookie defencemen and also shares top spot in overall offensive production among first-year players in the SIJHL.
Dryden also has a 5-1-0-3 record in contests in which he registers at least one point.
For his efforts Williams will receive a prize package from Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp.
Also receiving consideration for SIJHL rookie of the month honours was: Bradley Belisle, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Sam Schultz, (D) Fort Frances Lakers; Hunter Routheau, (D) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Alex Maticic, (F) English River Miners.
