Corbett’s Hat Trick Leads Miners Over Ice Dogs

A 3 goal night from Aiden Corbett helped lead the Red Lake Miners past the Dryden Ice Dogs 5-4 in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at the Cochenour Arena.

The Miners stuck first on the night at 12:46 of the first period when Corbett scored his 7th of the season.  Dryden would pull even at 15:08 on the power play  when Sebastiano Biagi’s point shot made it through traffic and behind Neitsch for his 4th of the season.

A late penalty in the first period gave the Miners a 5 on 3 man advantage to start the second period. The Miners would convert on the power play when Foxx McColl beat Soutar for his first SIJHL goal 34 seconds into the second period for a 2-1 Miners lead.  McKale Paul would tie the game up at 3:42 scoring his first of the season.  Carter Deschamps made it 3-2 Miners putting a rebound home at 6:10 for his 3rd of the season. Dryden would tie it up at 3 at 12:03 when Max Roby found himself all alone in front of the net and tucked it home for his 14th of the year.

Dryden would take their first lead of the night just 35 seconds into the 3rd on a power play goal by Biagi.  Aiden Corbett’s 8th of the year at 7:29  would tie the game at 4. Corbett would complete his hat trick on the power play at 9:44 for his 9th of the season and a 5-4 Miners lead. Ethan Neitsch would close the door on the Ice Dogs the rest of the night picking up his 4th win of the year,
