Surging Thief River Falls improves to 7-0 after blanking English River

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – The surging Thief River Falls Norskies picked up a 30-save shutout from Brock Lefebvre and three assists courtesy of Mitchell Soderberg to help lead them to their seventh straight Superior International Junior Hockey League victory Friday as they blanked the English River Miners 3-0 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame, the Norskies picked up the eventual game-winner just past the five-minute mark of the middle stanza on a Parker Simonson power play marker.

Simonson then struck again at 8:17 to put the home side up by two after 40 minutes.

They then picked up some insurance early in the third as Michael Johnson notched the final goal of the evening.

The trio of helpers for Soderberg saw him produce multiple points for a fourth straight outing.

Michael Lenko faced 37 shots in defeat for the Miners.
