Lakers and North Stars maintain position in CJHL rankings

THUNDER BAY – The two Superior International Junior Hockey League squads listed in Canadian Junior Hockey League top 20 rankings held on to their respective positions for a second consecutive week.

In the latest CJHL listings announced Monday the SIJHL-leading Fort Frances Lakers were once again tabbed fourth overall nationally while the second place Thunder Bay North Stars also maintained their hold on to the No. 15 slot in the weekly tabulations for the CJHL, which are prepared in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.

Red-hot Fort Frances, who boast the best winning percentage in the entire 128-team CJHL at .917, are an impressive 21-1-0-2 in SIJHL play so far this season while having amassed 41 out of a possible 42 points in their past 21 games.

Thunder Bay too has been stellar having gone 15-3-0-3 in SIJHL action to date to hold down second spot in the standings, four points clear of third place Minnesota while also holding two games in hand on the Iron Rangers and three on the Lakers.

The top three in the CJHL also remained unchanged this week with the Alberta Junior Hockey League boasting the top two clubs with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons at No. 1 and the Spruce Grove Saints at No. 2.

Rounding out that list is the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League at No. 3.
