Daman’s 3-point night leads Norskies over Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Alec Daman tallied twice and assisted on the game-winner to help lift the Thief River Falls Norskies to a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Thief River Falls got off to a quick start in the contest at Mitchell Soderberg opened the night’s scoring just 30 seconds in as he picked up his 18th goal of the season.

Cody Aarvig added to the lead at 9:05 as the Norskies went up by a pair.

Battling back, Minnesota cut into the deficit during a man advantage opportunity when Mark Sanchez secured his 19th goal of the campaign at 16:49.

The visitors took control in the middle stanza as they struck three times to extend their lead to four.

Daman notched the first two markers in the session for Thief River Falls while Soderberg’s second of the evening proved to be the final goal of the evening.

Jackson Nelson made 17 saves in picking up the win for the Norskies.

Rob Ivy started for the Iron Rangers and suffered the loss allowing the five against on 22 shots while Tyler Thompson turned aside all 13 attempts he saw in 31 minutes of relief.
