Lakers’ Jacob Nolan named SIJHL’s most sportsmanlike player

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced today that Fort Frances Lakers forward Jacob Nolan has been named the recipient of the SIJHL’s most sportsmanlike player award for the 2012-13 season.

The 20-year-old Nolan, who hails from Geraldton, Ont., edged out Tyson Holder of the Dryden Ice Dogs and Joseph Drapuk of the Minnesota Wilderness for the honour.

In 48 games during the regular season Nolan only accumulated eight minutes in penalties.

He also registered 38 points on the campaign with 12 goals and 26 assists.

Nolan’s offensive numbers were the fourth best totals on his team in terms of points.

Also, of his dozen tallies, two were also game-winners.

This marks the second time in three years a member of the Lakers earned this award as Tyler Stevenson garnered the accolades back in the 2011-11 season.

Former Borderland Thunder forward A.J. Tucker was co-recipient of the recognition back in 2002-03, the second year of the SIJHL.
