Well-balanced attack leads GM Ice Dogs over Miners

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got goals from seven different skaters to help them earn a 7-3 victory over the English River Miners Saturday night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena.

It was all GM Ice Dogs in the opening 20 minutes as they rushed out to a 3-0 lead on tallies by Tristan Knott, Jacen Bracko and Eric Stout, who notched his league-leading eighth of the season.

Derek McPhail made it 4-0 Dryden 59 seconds into the middle session with a shorthanded effort before Cameron Novak’s first put the Miners on the board 14:04.

The home side answered that three and a half minutes later, compliments of Trey Palermo’s first SIJHL goal.

Early markers by English River’s Ryder Prue and Trevor Pereverzoff made it 5-3 with 17 minutes still to be played, but the GM Ice Dogs finished things off on goals by Cory Dennis at 9:42 and Braeden Allkins, with six seconds to left, to round out the scoring.

Braedyn Aubin had two assists for Dryden in the win while Sidney Gladue helped set-up all three Miners’ efforts on the night.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the GM Ice Dogs by a 47-46 count with Ben Dennis picking up the victory and Michael Lenko the loss.
