Walls’ 4-point night leads Dryden over Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Dryden GM Ice Dogs first-year forward Evan Walls tallied twice and helped set-up two more to lead his side to a 5-1 decision over the Fort Frances Lakers in Superior International Junior Hockey League contest Saturday at Ice for Kids Arena.

A first period power play allowed Fort Frances to get on the board first as Anthony Antonelli picked up his initial SIJHL goal at 12:22.

Dryden countered with the equalizer off the stick of Chris Atanas four minutes later to knot the affair at 1-1 after one.

Walls then set-up Luke Bellerose 50 seconds into the middle stanza, for the eventual game-winner, before he added his first of the evening at 8:19 as he struck for a shorthanded effort.

The GM Ice Dogs then put the game away in the third on markers from Wyatt Lawrence and Walls to round out the scoring.

Logan Sawka made 27 stops to pick up the win for Dryden while Rob Ivy faced 48 shots in defeat for the Lakers.
