Thunder Bay blanks Thief River Falls

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – Thunder Bay North Stars netminder Brock Aiken stopped all 36 shots he faced to record his Superior International Junior Hockey League-leading sixth shutout of the season as part of a 2-0 triumph over the Thief River Falls Norskies Friday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Following a scoreless first frame, Thunder Bay netted the eventual game-winner of the stick of rookie forward Jonathan Kilby at 14:57 of the second stanza.

They then got some insurance from Jacob Anttonen in the back half of the third to round out the scoring.

Matthew Halushak assisted on both North Stars tallies.

Norskies goalkeeper Bailey Schmitz made 31 saves in defeat for Thief River Falls.

The same two teams meet again Saturday at 7p.m. back at The Ralph.
