Thief River Falls wins in Red Lake again

RED LAKE, Ont. – An Alec Daman natural hat trick, that included the game-winner, highlighted a one-sided 6-1 victory by the Thief River Falls Norskies over the Red Lake Miners in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Monday at Cochenour Arena.

After winning 4-1 in Red Lake Sunday, it was more Norskies on this day as well that began with Nick Harder putting the visitors on the board midway through the first frame.

Daman then tallied twice in the middle session as he connected at even strength as well as shorthanded to make it 3-0 after 40 minutes.

Heading to the final frame, Daman finished off his third straight tally at 3:35 as he connected on a man advantage opportunity to give him 28 goals on the season.

The Miners finally solved Thief River Falls netminder Bailey Schmitz with just over six minutes left with Matt Krawiec converting on a power play chance.

Jake Eischen however put the game away for the guests late as he rounded out the scoring with the Norskies up a skater.

Shots on goal favoured Thief River Falls 29-24 with Schmitz picking up the win and Zach Willms the loss.
