Matthew Norlock, a Red Lake, ON community member and official in the Superior International Junior Hockey League, has passed away.
Commissioner Dean Thibodeau released the following statement: “We are saddened by the loss of Matthew Norlock, a respected citizen and dedicated hockey official. Matt’s commitment and integrity on the ice and in life earned him the admiration of both his peers and the players. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the Red Lake community as we remember and honour his contributions.”
The Red Lake Miners released the following:
“The Red Lake Miners organization extend our deepest sympathies to the family of SIJHL official Matthew “Matt” Norlock who passed away November 5, 2024. Matt was a dedicated official, dedicated to the community but most important a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Shawnda, sons Ben and Luke, parents Rick and Judy, brother Jim (Jen) and family, in-laws Ray and Sandra Hall and brother in-law Ryan (Kristy). Matt will be dearly missed and we will do everything we can to support his family and friends through this time of sorrow.”
