Wilderness rolls over Clydesdales

DULUTH, Minn. – The trio of Tyler Gorniak, Zach Thielen and Brandon Zurick combined for nine points to help pace the Minnesota Wilderness to an 8-0 romp over the Duluth Clydesdales Sunday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at the Heritage Sports Center.

The Wilderness jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one period thanks to tallies from Mike Dietrich, Richard Seidel, Thielen and Drake Hunter.

A couple more markers in the middle frame made it 6-0 after 40 minutes with Peter Barrel and Jeremy Johnson scoring for the visitors.

Late third period markers by Michael MacKinnon and Gorniak rounded out the offensive barrage by the Wilderness.

Gordy Defiel turned aside all 28 shots he faced to register the shutout with Dom DeGuiseppi starting for Duluth and allowing five goals on 23 attempts to suffer the loss. Walker Enstad stopped 27 of 30 shots he faced in relief.

With the triumph the Wilderness improved to 5-1 on the year while the Clydesdales remain winless at 0-3-1.
