SIJHL announces suspensions

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Superior International Junior Hockey League Commissioner Bryan Graham has announced the following suspensions resulting from incidents from SIJHL Game No. 104, Dryden GM Ice Dogs @ Thunder Bay North Stars, played on Saturday, Feb. 6.

JARED FANTI, THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS – THREE (3) GAMES

Fanti is suspended three games under Supplementary Discipline after being assessed minor penalty and 10-minute misconduct for head contact under rule 6.5 (c).

The player will miss the following games:

SIJHL Game 108 – Minnesota vs. Thunder Bay (Feb. 10)
SIJHL Game 111 – Thunder Bay @ Fort Frances (Feb. 12)
SIJHL Game 119 – Thunder Bay @ Fort Frances Feb. 19)

BRYCE MARTIN, THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS – TWO (2) GAMES

Martin is suspended one game for receiving a game misconduct in the final 10 minutes of regulation under rule 4.6 (C) and is suspended one additional game under Supplementary Discipline.

The player will miss the following games:

SIJHL Game 108 – Minnesota vs. Thunder Bay (Feb. 10)
SIJHL Game 111 – Thunder Bay @ Fort Frances (Feb. 12)

JOE NEWHOUSE, THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS – TWO (2) GAMES

Newhouse is suspended one game for receiving a game misconduct in the final 10 minutes of regulation under rule 4.6 (C) and is suspended one additional game under Supplementary Discipline.

The player will miss the following games:

SIJHL Game 108 – Minnesota vs. Thunder Bay (Feb. 10)
SIJHL Game 111 – Thunder Bay @ Fort Frances (Feb. 12)

CHARLIE CORNESS, THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS – TWO (2) GAMES

Corness is suspended two games under Supplementary Discipline.

The player will miss the following games:

SIJHL Game 108 – Minnesota vs. Thunder Bay (Feb. 10)
SIJHL Game T.B.A.

BRAEDYN ALLKINS, DRYDEN GM ICE DOGS – ONE (1) GAME

Allkins is suspended one game for receiving game misconduct in final 10 minutes of regulation under rule 4.6 (c).

The player will miss the following game:

SIJHL Game 113 – Dryden @ Fort Frances (Feb. 15)

LEAGUE SANCTIONS

Both teams have also been fined an undisclosed amount for an off-ice incident between the dressing rooms at the end of the second period as well as for unsportsmanlike conduct by the players in the penalty box and for penalized players failing to leave the ice in a timely manner when ordered to the dressing room by the on-ice officials.

ADDITIONAL UNRELATED SUSPENSION

KURT WALSTEN, (HEAD COACH) DRYDEN GM ICE DOGS – TWO (2) GAMES

Walsten is suspended by the SIJHL and Hockey Northwestern Ontario two games for inadvertently dressing ineligible players in SIJHL Game No. 101 & No. 104 versus English River (Feb. 3) and Thunder Bay (Feb. 6) vs. Thunder Bay.

He will serve the suspension in upcoming games against the Miners and North Stars with those dates to be determined.
