SIJHL announces schedule for Bill Salonen Cup final
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday the game schedule the upcoming Bill Salonen Cup final between the Fort Frances Lakers and Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
Each game in this best-of-seven affair is slated to have 7:30 p.m. CT starts.
Action in the Bill Salonen Cup will commence Thursday at Ice for Kids Arena in Fort Frances.
Game 2 of the series will also be played in Fort Frances and goes Sunday back at Ice for Kids Arena.
The series will then shift Dryden’s Memorial Arena for Games 3 & 4 on Tuesday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20.
Should a Game 5 be required, it would be held on Friday, April 22 in Fort Frances.
If a Game 6 is called for, it would go on Saturday, April 23 in Dryden.
Then if the match-up goes the distance, Game 7 is slated for Tuesday, April 26 at Ice for Kids Arena.
The SIJHL champion will move on to represent the league at the 2016 Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A championship May 3-7 in Kirkland Lake, Ont.
There the SIJHL winner will be joined by the host Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and the defending Dudley-Hewitt Cup champion Soo Thunderbirds, who will play for the NOJHL crown starting Friday in Sault Ste. Marie.
Also heading to the DHC will be the winner of the OJHL final between the Trenton Golden Hawks and the Georgetown Raiders. That best-of-seven also start Friday in Trenton.
