SIJHL announces forfeited game

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that SIJHL game No. 1 played on Thursday, September 20, between the Thief River Falls Norskies and Minnesota Iron Rangers, has been forfeited by Thief River Falls due to the use of an ineligible player.

The Norskies had originally won the contest 6-1, but now forfeit those two points after using an ineligible player, which was in violation of Hockey Canada regulations.

Thief River Falls forfeits the victory they earned from the game under Hockey Canada regulation O.5, which in turn will now be credited as a 1-0 victory for the Iron Rangers.

The statistics for players on both sides from this contest will count however.

The SIJHL received complete cooperation from the Norskies on this issue and it was deemed the use of the ineligible player by the team was strictly inadvertent and unintentional.
