SIJHL announces 2015-16 regular season schedule

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday it regular season schedule for the 2015-16 season.

The 140-game regular season slate will commence on Friday, Sept. 18 on two fronts as the English River Miners entertain the Minnesota Iron Rangers at 7 p.m. at Ear Falls Arena while the Dryden GM Ice Dogs host the Thunder Bay North Stars at 7:30 p.m.

One night later the Miners and Iron Rangers will meet once again, but at Cochenour Arena, while the GM Ice Dogs and North Stars will wrap-up a two-game set at Dryden’s Memorial Arena.

The two-time defending Bill Salonen Cup champion Fort Frances Lakers will make their 2015-16 debut on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in Ear Falls vs. the Miners at 7 p.m.

Minnesota and Fort Frances will both see their first home games of the campaign against Thunder Bay and Dryden respectively on Sept. 25 while the North Stars open up action at the Fort William Gardens on Sunday, Sept. 27 as they welcome the Iron Rangers.

Each team will play a 56-game schedule with 27 as the home side and the same amount as the visitors.

Two of those contests each will be part of the annual SIJHL Showcase, which goes Jan. 25-27, 2016 with the venue of the three-day event to be announced at a later date.

Regular season action is set to conclude on March 19.
