DRYDEN, Ont. – Bryce Young had a pair of third period goals to lead the Red Lake Miners to a 4-1 win over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in a penalty-filled Superior International Junior Hockey League contest Wednesday at Memorial Arena.
A late first period power play helped Red Lake get things going offensively as Keegan Tiringer collected his second since joining the Miners earlier this month.
The visitors then extended lead early in the second stanza with Sean Gula beating Dryden starter Carson Murison at 2:24 with assists going to Morgan Venne and Keilan Toews.
Eric Stout got one back for Dryden early in the third, but Young countered just 14 seconds later to make it 3-1 then rounded out the scoring, via the power play, at 5:29.
Zach Willms in the Red Lake net made 24 saves to register the victory for the Miners who improved to 9-2 in their past 11 outings while Carson Murison faced 31 shots suffering the loss for the GM Ice Dogs who fell to 0-5-1 in November.
