Oberg notches 1st 2 goals as Dryden defeats Thunder Bay 5-1

DRYDEN, Ont. – Josh Oberg tallied twice to help the Dryden GM Ice Dogs cap off the 2015 portion of their Superior International Junior Hockey League schedule Saturday with a 5-1 victory over the Thunder Bay North Stars at Memorial Arena.

After a scoreless opening period, Thunder Bay scored on the power play four and a half minutes into the middle session on a Kenny Turner effort.

Dryden countered with the equalizer from Oberg at 8:10 before the home side got two more markers 56 seconds apart later in the frame thanks to Derek McPhail and Woody Galbraith.

The GM Ice Dogs then put the game away in the third starting with a Kyle Pouncy man advantage effort at 4:29 before Oberg’s second of the night.

The tallies were Oberg’s first and second of the campaign for Dryden.

Tanner Watt and Braeden Allkins had two assists each for the winning side.

The GM Ice Dogs held a big edge in shots by a 37-13 margin with Taylor Unruh picking up the decision with Eric Mann making 33 saves in a losing cause for the North Stars.
