North Stars’ netminder Aiken named SIJHL Performer of the Month for January

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Friday that Thunder Bay North Stars goaltender Brock Aiken has been named its Performer of the Month for January.

In six starts during the time frame the 20-year-old Thunder Bay product came away victorious in each of them for the league-leading North Stars to conclude the month at 6-0.

January saw Aiken finish with a 1.74 goals-against average along with a .929 save percentage while also posting a pair of shutouts.

The Thunder Bay stopper enters February leading all SIJHL goalkeepers in wins (16); goals-against average (2.01); save percentage (.933) and shutouts (4).

So far in 2018-19, Aiken has yet to lose in regulation and sports an impressive 16-0-1-0 record in 18 appearances for the No. 2 Canadian Junior Hockey League-ranked North Stars.

Also earning consideration for the SIJHL’s performer of the month award for February was Connor Bowey, (D) Thief River Falls Norskies; Spencer Milne, (F) Red Lake Miners; Jacob Anthony, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Brett Hahkala, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Garrett Wojcicki, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
