North Stars Hamlin named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions players of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Thunder Bay North Stars forward Kris Hamlin has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. players of the week for the period ending Oct. 18.

In two games played last week, the 18-year-old Thunder Bay product picked up five points helping the North Stars earn a pair of victories.

Hamlin began by keying a big comeback by his side Friday as they rallied from a four-goal deficit to defeat Minnesota 8-6.

He assisted on Thunder Bay’s initial marker in the third and then notched the tying goal on the power play to aid in the rally.

One night later Hamlin came through again tallying twice, including the game-winner, and setting another marker as Thunder Bay surprised league-leading Fort Frances 3-2 on home ice.

Hamlin enters play this week riding an eight-game point streak and has 17 points overall, which leads the North Stars and is the second highest total in the SIJHL.

Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Tanner Watt, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Pierce Dushenko, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Dan Sarnecki, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Konnar Dechaine, (F) English River Miners.
