North Stars’ Corbin named SIJHL Gongshow Gear performer of the month

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Thunder Bay North Stars goaltender Riley Corbin has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for January.

In seven starts during the opening month of 2016, the 20-year-old Thunder Bay native posted a 6-1 record while registering a stingy 1.86 goals-against average and an equally solid .945 save percentage along with one shutout.

Since mid-November Corbin has helped the North Stars turn their fortunes around as he has gone 11-3-0-0 in that span while his 17 overall wins are currently the second most in the SIJHL.

For his efforts,Corbin will receive a prize pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear, the official lifestyle hockey apparel of the SIJHL.

Also earning consideration for the SIJHL’s Gongshow Gear performer of the month award was Dylan Robertson, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jake Ellingson (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Kyle Pouncy, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Ryker Moreau, (F) English River Miners.
