North Stars’ Bruchkowski named SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars forward Cody Bruchkowski has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 1.

The 20-year-old Cochenour, Ont., product began by tallying five times Friday, including potting the game-winner, as the North Stars got past the Dryden GM Ice Dogs on home ice.

This marked the five five-goal performance in a SIJHL regular season contest since March 8, 2018, when Jacen Bracko accomplished the feat for the GM Ice Dogs in a triumph over the then Minnesota Iron Rangers.

Bruchkowski then notched a shorthanded marker in a road setback at Dryden on Saturday.

He enters play this week leading all SIJHL skaters in goals (23), power play markers (7), hat tricks (4) and points (33). He’s also tied for second in the league in game-winning markers with four.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours were Justin Pitari, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Zach Willms, (G) Red Lake Miners.

NOTE: The Fort Frances Lakers, Thief River Falls Norskies and Wisconsin Lumberjacks did not play last week, thus did not have a nominee.
