North Stars back in win column with victory over Iron Rangers

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – After having a 13-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs on Saturday, the Thunder Bay North Stars retuned to the win column Wednesday by defeating the Minnesota Iron Rangers 18-1 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Fort William Gardens.

In this make-up game that was postponed back in December, Thunder Bay set the tone early by striking eight times in the first period en route to the win.

They added three more in the second and another seven in the third.

Jayden Mrakac and Keighan Gerrie had hat tricks for the North Stars while Jacob Brown, Ben Erwin, Alex Erwin and Brendan Gillis each tallied twice.

Supplying singles for Thunder Bay were Jonathan Kilby, Robert Tyska, Jacob Anttonen and Kyle Auger.

Joshua Baker notched the lone marker for Minnesota as he collected his 13th of the season.

North Stars netminder Dougie Newhouse picked up the victory in goal while Synjen Amende and Nick Corneliusen both saw time between the pipes for the Iron Rangers.
