THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars defenceman Kyle Auger has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 27.
In three outings during the time frame, Auger, who turned 20 earlier this month, racked up a dozen points on six goals and as many assists in a trio of North Stars victories.
The Thunder Bay native scored in each of the contests last week, including a career single-game high four, in a one-sided triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Wednesday.
Auger then produced multi-point performances over the weekend as the SIJHL leaders swept a two-game set vs. the second place Red Lake Miners at the Fort William Gardens.
He currently leads all league defencemen in offensive production with 62 points in 31 games on 16 tallies and a SIJHL-best 46 helpers.
His totals also place Auger third among all skaters.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Connor Bowey, (D) Thief River Falls Norskies; Jacob Anthony, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Jacob Gnidziejko, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Kyle Uzelman, (F) Red Lake Miners and Joe Lech, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
