THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – A five-goal first period was more than enough for the Thief River Falls Norskies as they went on to trounce the Minnesota Iron Rangers 14-0 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up Wednesday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
The Norskies took control from the get go striking five times in the opening frame with Blake Nelson tallying twice for the Norskies while Alec Daman, Mason McIntosh and Boe Bjorge supplied singles.
It was more Thief River Falls in the second session as they tacked on four more markers with Brett Piper and Tate Steffan both scoring twice in the stanza.
They then finished off the romp with another five-pack in the third as Nelson, Bjorge, McIntosh, Bryce Johnson and Michael Crosbie all found the back of the net.
In all, 12 different Norskies had multiple-point outings in the one-sided decision.
Fletcher Bolda made 20 saves to post his first SIJHL shutout.
Nick Coreniusen and Nikolaos Mantetas both saw time in net for the Iron Rangers.
