THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thief River Falls Norskies goaltender Seth Purcilly has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 5.
Getting a pair of starts for Thief River Falls last week, the 19-year-old netminder from Waterford, Mich., won both of them helping the Norskies pick up four points in the SIJHL standings.
Following a 30-save effort New Year’s Eve at home vs. Wisconsin, Purcilly made another 37 stops in a road triumph Saturday in Fort Frances giving him a .931 save percentage for the week.
He also picked up an assist in that victory against the Lakers.
In his past 10 appearances, between the pipes, for Thief River Falls, the first-year goaltender sports a won-loss-overtime defeat record of 7-2-1.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours were Amraj Gill, (D) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Hunter Adams, (G) Wisconsin Lumberjacks; Zach Willms, (G) Red Lake Miners; Stone Stelzl, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Nikolas Campbell, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
