Norskies’ Michels named SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thief River Falls Norskies forward Jack Michels has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 8.

In a pair of Thief River Falls victories last week, Michels notched the game-winner in both of them and amassed six points in total.

The 18-year-old from DeForest, Wis., had the deciding tally and dished out a couple of assists Friday in a home win vs. Red Lake.

One night later, Michels scored twice, including the difference maker on a breakaway, early in overtime, and had an earlier helper in an OT triumph over the Miners.

Boasting six multi-point performances in a row and riding a 10-game point streak, the Norskies forward currently sits tied for sixth in SIJHL scoring with 27 points, including 14 markers, in just 16 league outings.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours were Cody Bruchkowski, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Dylan DiTomaso, (D) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Tyler Malpass, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Morgan Venne, (F) Red Lake Miners and Cameron Birkeland, (D) Wisconsin Lumberjacks
