Norskies end North Stars win streak at 8
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – A Keaton Huot goal with 31 seconds remaining in the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Thief River Falls Norskies slipped past the Thunder Bay North Stars 3-2 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest Saturday at the Fort William Gardens.
The loss ends the North Stars consecutive game winning streak at eight in a row.
Thief River Falls jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one on markers from Mitchell Soderberg and Michael Johnson.
Thunder Bay battled back to tie it in the middle session thanks to Tyler Minoleti, on the power play, and Brendan Gillis, shorthanded, to knot the affair at 2-2.
However, Huot’s late tally in the frame put the visitors back in front for good in what would be the final goal of the game.
The Norskies outshot the North Stars 44-41 with Ryan Buttazzoni picking up the win and Jordan Elliot the loss.
