Norskies double up Iron Rangers 6-3

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Michael Moreira had a pair of goals to help the visiting Thief River Falls Norskies double up the Minnesota Iron Rangers 6-3 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest Saturday at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Thief River Falls came out quickly and grabbed a 3-0 lead on first period markers from Alec Daman, Mason McIntosh and Moreira.

Battling back, the Iron Rangers countered with three of their own before the opening frame was complete thanks to a pair of tallies from Joshua Baker and a single off the stick of Joe Lech.

The Norskies went back on top in the middle stanza as they picked up tallies from Boe Bjorge and Brett Piper 45 seconds apart.

Moreira then helped secure the decision with shorthanded effort in the third to wrap up the road win.

Connor Bowey had two assists in the triumph for the visitors.

Shots on goal on the night favoured Thief River Falls 55-22 with Fletcher Bolda picking up the victory while Synjen Amende made 49 stops in defeat for Minnesota.
