MORDEN, Man. – Trent Halfdanson tallied twice while goaltender Aaron Brunn turned aside all 31 shots he faced to help propel the Winkler Flyers (MJHL) to a 5-0 victory over the Thief River Falls Norskies Saturday evening in a Canadian Junior Hockey League inter-league exhibition match-up in Morden, Man.
Winkler took control early as they skated out to a three-goal cushion after one period of play on markers by Colton Friesen, Halfdanson and Colton Harder.
After a scoreless middle session, the Flyers put the game away in the third picking up markers from Halfdanson at even strength and Everett Bestland, via the power play, to secure the win.
Friesen and Eric Fawkes had two assists each in the triumph for the MJHL side.
Fletcher Bolda faced 42 shots in defeat for Thief River Falls who now gear up for their Superior International Junior Hockey League opener Thursday vs. the Minnesota Iron Rangers in a 7 p.m. CT start at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
