Minnesota blasts Wisconsin in SIJHL play Wednesday

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The lone Superior International Junior Hockey League contest on the schedule Wednesday saw Minnesota Iron Rangers win their third straight game as they hammered the Wisconsin Wilderness 10-0 at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Minnesota took full control early in this one jumping out to a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes of play on tallies by Max Seiter, Jonathon Losurdo, Matt O’Dea, Cody Shively and A.J. Rupert.

The Iron Rangers ran it to 7-0 after two periods of play getting additional goals by O’Dea and Sean Teske.

They then finished off the romp tacking on three more in the final frame off the sticks Evan Erickson, A.J. Rupert and Austin Frank.

Jay Routheau chipped in a with a three-assist night while Drew Millis, Eric Madison, Erickson and Frank had two helpers apiece.

Alex Reichle made 26 saves to register his first shutout in the SIJHL, which was also the initial shutout in the Iron Rangers’ brief history.

Griffin Strain started for the Wilderness and suffered the loss.

Zann Anderson also saw time in net in relief for the Wilderness as the duo faced a combined 49 shots on the night.
