Miners’ Young tabbed SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Red Lake Miners forward Bryce Young has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 28.

In three appearances last week, which were all Red Lake victories, Young amassed 11 points to vault into the overall SIJHL scoring lead.

He began with his second hat trick of the season, including notching the game-winner, as the Miners knocked off Dryden Tuesday.

The soon-to-be 19-year-old The Pas, Man., product then tallied twice more and helped set-up another as Red Lake rolled over Minnesota Friday.

Saturday he capped off his week by picking up his third three-goal performance and doling out a pair assists as the Miners rocked the Iron Rangers once again.

Through 12 games so far this season, Young has etched his name on the score sheet in 11 of them and produced nine multi-point outings.

He also tops all SIJHL skaters in both goals and points with 18 and 30 respectively.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Carson Murison, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Alec Daman, (F) Thief River Norskies; Brock Aiken, (G) Thunder Bay North Stars; Colton Bodnar, (D) Fort Frances Lakers and Zach Ash, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
