Miners’ Young named SIJHL Performer of the Month

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Red Lake Miners forward Bryce Young has been named its Performer of the Month for October, which also includes the initial regular season contests in September.

In a dozen outings, the 18-year-old The Pas, Man., product had points in all but one of them amassing 30 in all, including a league-best 18 goals.

Two of his tallies were game-winners and he also produced nine multi-point games, including seven with three or more.

Young also tops all SIJHL skaters in man advantage markers with seven and shorthanded goals with two.

He was also tabbed league Play It Again Sports player of the week in the time frame.

Also earning consideration for the SIJHL’s performer of the month award for February was Keighan Gerrie, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Brett Piper, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Nick Lucas, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Eric Stout, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Lucas Lundgren, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
