Miners Double Up On Bombers

The Sioux Lookout Bombers and the Red Lake Miners both took winning streaks into a matchup with between the two most northern teams in the SIJHL Friday night at the Cochenour Arena.

Ethan Penner would get the start in net for the visitors while Jack Osmond was between the pipes for the home team. Miners would get on the scoreboard first at 9:25 when Luke DeCorby slid one past Penner for his 6th of the season.  Bombers would tie it up at 17:44 on a power play tally from Graeme Patrick.   Patrick added his second of the night to give the Bombers a 2-1 lead at 19:10 with his 7th of the year.  After 20 minutes the Bombers led 2-1.

Dayvan Bull would open up a high scoring second period at  4:35 putting a rebound home for his 5th. Quintyn Sidaway gave the home team a 3-2 lead at 9:28 with his 6th.  The lead was short lived as Owen Riffel kept the puck and shot on a 2 on 1 12 seconds later beating Osmond for his 17th of the year. Miners would answer back with 2 more before the period ended. Luke DeCorby notched his second of the night at 10:57 then Anthony Pileggi scored his 2nd as a Miner at 11:16 to give the Miners a 5-3 lead and that goal would end Penner’s night.  There would be no more scoring in the period and the Miners would take a 2 goal lead into the third.

The third period wouldn’t see either team score until Colton Crysler put one into the empty net at 19:12 to seal the Miners win.  The Miners will carry a 5 game winning streak into Saturday Nights game.

Jack Osmond Stopped 47 shots to pick up his 14th win.
