Miners come back to clip Norskies

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – The English River Miners rallied from a third period deficit to defeat the Thief River Falls Norskies 4-3 Saturday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League action in front of nearly 1,000 fans at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Ryan Patterson’s first SIJHL goal, 11:13 into the contest, put English River in front only to see Cody Aarvig tie it for Thief River Falls just over two minutes later.

The Miners regained the lead though before the first frame was complete thanks to a Kyle Rosolowski power play marker at 16:11.

Action in the middle stanza saw the Norskies draw level once more as Mitchell Soderberg connected on a man advantage opportunity at 13:32.

The home side then took the lead before the second session was done when Michael Johnson picked up his 10th goal of the season at 18:24.

English River was quick to knot the affair once more though thanks to an Ethan Wong effort 80 seconds into the third period.

The Miners then picked up the game-winner off the stick Michael Di Lullo with 8:44 to go.

Brody Jennings chipped in with two assists for English River.

Shots on goal in the match-up were 36 apiece with Michael Lenko picking up the win while Bailey Schmitz suffered the loss.
