Miners cap off unbeaten road trip with win vs. Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Red Lake Miners capped off a three-game weekend road trip with yet another victory as they defeated the Minnesota Iron Rangers 7-2 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Kyle Uzelman produced a big night for the Miners as he tallied three times and dished out two assists in the triumph.

Red Lake scored twice in each of the first two periods to take a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes beginning with Michael Di Lullo, on the power play, and Uzelman at even strength.

The middle session saw Uzelman and Keegan Tiringer connect to put the visitors up by four.

Uzelman then finished off his first SIJHL hat trick early in the third to extend the Red Lake cushion.

After Liam Stalwick put the guests up by six, Joshua Baker put the Iron Rangers on the board with his 12th at 11:32.

Tiringer answered that a couple minutes later with his second of the night before Minnesota’s Matt Turnbull rounded out the scoring with a late man advantage effort.

The Miners’ Zach Willms picked up the win in net while Nick Corneliusen suffered the loss for Minnesota.
