Miners blast Iron Rangers

RED LAKE, Ont. – The Red Lake Miners trio of Shaye Sommerfeld, Caleb Paisley and Keegan Tiringer racked up six points apiece as their side went on to blast the Minnesota Iron Rangers 14-0 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest Tuesday at Cochenour Arena.

Paisley, at even strength, along with Dante Tisi and Michael Di Lullo on the power play, sent the Miners on their way with first period markers.

Red Lake kept it going in the middle stanza as they tacked on five more goals with Di Lullo, Tiringer, Tisi, Sommerfeld and Stratton Pickett all finding the back of the net.

The Miners then finished off the romp in the third as Sommerfeld notched two with Pickett, Paisley, Spencer Milne and Kyle Uzelman also getting into the act.

Zach Wilms made 24 saves to post the shutout for Red Lake.

Newcomer Nikolaos Manetas suffered the loss in his SIJHL debut as he was peppered with 52 shots while Synjen Amende saw 13 attempts in relief for Minnesota.
