Miners Beat Ice Dogs To Even Up Series

The Dryden Ice Dogs made their way up Highway 105 to the Cochenour Arena looking to take a 2 game lead in the series. Cole Johnston would start the game in net for the Ice Dogs  while Kiev Kineshanko got the call for the Miners.

First period action saw the Ice Dogs get on the scoresheet first when  Brady Frattinger was left all alone in the slot and beat Kineshanko for a 1-0 lead at 5:58.  Red Lake would tie the game at 12:29 courtesy of a Treston Moisey point shot.  Ondrej Bardos would give the Ice Dogs a 2-1 lead at 15:55 beating Kineshanko from the slot.  After 20 minutes of play the !ce Dogs hold a 2-1 lead and outshoot he Miners 16 to 9.

The Miners started off the second period on the penalty kill and managed to keep the game a 1 goal game.  Elliot Parker would tie the game up at 2 ripping a shot past Johnston at 11:29.  Penalty kills would become the focus for the Miners for the rest of the second period. They would successfully kill of  5 on 3 and the following penalty before a double minor at the end of the period.  Kineshanko would stand his ground and after 40 minutes the game is tied at 2. Shots on goal after the second period were 24-17 for the Ice Dogs.

Third period action had the Miners starting off with a short penalty kill and trying to gain some momentum.  Jake Parker would give the Miners their first lead of the game beating a screened Johnston with a wrist shot at 2:31.  Kineshanko and the Miners defence would do their jobs to preserve the lead the rest of the way.  Final score Miners 3 Ice Dogs 2.

Series tied 1-1.
