Miners’ Baranesky tabbed SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Red Lake Miners rookie forward Jordan Baranesky has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 22.

In a pair of Miners road victories over the weekend the 18-year-old Red Lake product produced multi-point performances in each of them to help pace his side offensively.

Friday night at Wisconsin, the scored once and assisted on another in a 4-3 shootout triumph.

Then on Saturday, Baranesky tallied twice, including notching the game-winner in overtime on a breakaway in another 4-3 decision, this time in Thunder Bay over the league-leading North Stars.

Through his first 28 SIJHL contests, he has produced 10 goals, including a pair of winners, and added six assists along the way.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours were Alex Erwin, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Dylan DiTomaso, (D) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Joel Matthews, (F) Wisconsin Lumberjacks; Tyler Malpass, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Jack Michels, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies.
