Marshall scores twice in Dryden victory over Thief River Falls

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up a pair of goals from Nolan Marshall to help them prevail over the Thief River Falls Norskies 4-3 Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Memorial Arena.

Action in the opening period saw each team score once with Isaac Baron putting the Norskies on the board at 6:42 before Marshall countered for the home side in the back half of the session.

Moving to the middle stanza, Marshall made it 2-1 in the opening moments as he picked up his 17th of the season.

Down a skater after that, Dryden’s Samson Mouland struck shorthanded as the hosts went up by a pair.

Regrouping, Thief River Falls countered with efforts courtesy of Joe Collins and Cory Checco to knot the affair with half a game to play.

The GM Ice Dogs then got the game-winner at 17:27 of the middle stanza with Xavier Halterman collecting his club’s second man-down marker of the night.

Dryden netminder Jacob Anthony did the rest, finishing with 26 saves to earn the win while Norskies’ netminder Joshua Seeley saw 39 shots fired his way in defeat.
