Losurdo’s hat-trick lifts Iron Rangers over Wilderness

SPOONER, Wis. – Minnesota Iron Rangers’ forward Jonathon Losurdo scored three times to help lead his club to a 5-2 victory over the Wisconsin Wilderness Thursday night in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at the Spooner Ice House.

Jake Cox put Wisconsin up a goal with 6:19 to go in the opening period only to see Losurdo strike shorthanded just over a minute later.

Drew Millis then put the visitors up one with a man advantage marker late in the session.

Minnesota added to their lead early in the middle frame converting on the power play as Jason Reynolds connected at the 58-second mark of the stanza, in what would turn out to be the only tally of the period.

The Wilderness then pulled back to within one in the early going of the third thanks to Alex Rezansoff beating Iron Rangers’ starter Alex Reichle.

Losurdo however added some insurance with 15:44 to go then iced it completing his hat-trick in the waning moments by adding another shorthanded effort, into an empty-net, to wrap up the night’s scoring.

Reichle finished up with 39 saves to record the win for Minnesota, who improved to 8-5-0-2 on the season.

Luke Thompson faced 35 shots in a losing cause for Wisconsin and they dropped to 1-10 overall.
