Lakers skate to 6th straight win

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers continued to rack up victories Saturday as they won their sixth Superior International Junior Hockey League contest in succession as they dropped the Minnesota Iron Rangers 6-2 at Ice for Kids Arena.

Dylan Robertson and Nick Minerva paced the Fort Frances attack with three points apiece in the win.

Neither side scored in the opening 20 minutes, but the Lakers lit the lamp three times in the middle session on markers by Dylan Kooner, A.J. Rupert and Robertson.

Minnesota battled back to within one early in the third starting with a Dalton Johnson even strength effort at 1:31 and one by John Cuni, via the power play, just over a minute later.

Fort Frances regrouped and added three more goals before the night was complete from Minerva, Andrew Willner and Robertson to secure the win.

Brandon Bodnar made 20 saves to pick-up the win for the Lakers.

Kyle Carignan faced 30 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
