Lakers’ Robertson named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers captain Dylan Robertson has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Feb. 21.
In three games last week the 20-year-old forward, who celebrates a birthday Wednesday, amassed nine points helping Fort Frances skate to a trio of victories while extending their current SIJHL season-high win streak to 11 in succession.
The Atlanta, Georgia product is also riding an 11-game point streak, which have all been Lakers’ win.
Robertson started last week with a goal and an assist in regulation, along with a tally in the shootout as Fort Frances edged Dryden on Family Day.
Wednesday evening saw him notch the game-winner and dole out three helpers as the Lakers won at Minnesota.
He then capped things off with two markers and setting up another as his club doubled up Thunder Bay on Friday.
Robertson currently leads all SIJHL skaters in offensive production with 63 points on 28 goals and 35 assists in just 40 outings.
He also tops the league in game-winning tallies with six while sitting tied for fifth with seven power play efforts and being knotted for third in shorthanded markers with two.
Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Braedyn Aubin, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Tristyn Sabina, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers and, Joe Newhouse (D) Thunder Bay North Stars.
NOTE: The English River Miners did not play last week thus did not have a nominee.
