Lakers’ Kooner named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Dylan Kooner has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Sept. 27.
In three games last week the 19-year-old from Abbotsford, B.C., had goals in each of them helping Fort Frances skate to a trio of victories.
Kooner began by notching the game-winner while his side was shorthanded in a 5-3 win against English River last Tuesday.
He followed that up with another tally in a 3-1 triumph over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Friday before completing his week with a goal and an assist in a 5-1 decision vs. the Minnesota Iron Rangers Saturday.
In 56 games with the Lakers in 2014-15, Kooner had eight goals and 37 assists for 45 points.
Also earning consideration for the Amyotte’s player of the week were: Eric Madison, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Kent Walchuk, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Daniel Szpakowski, (F) English River Miners & Kenny Turner, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
